Dyrhólaey

A spectacular rock arch is located nearby at Dyrhólaey, a 120 metre-high promontory with amazing views where visitors flock to see the unique Reynisdrangar basalt columns rising out of the ocean and the rich birdlife including Puffins.

Note: the cliffs are closed from May 1st – June 25th for bird nesting season. Note: Please keep a safe distance from the shore at the Dyrhólaey beach, as the currents are very strong and larger-than-normal waves occasionally wash ashore.
