Stunning royal lake town at Como's forks

Located exactly at the point where two branches of Lake Como meet, Bellagio is as scenic a destination as you can get in the region. This village is often referred to as the “Pearl of Lake Como” and you’ll need to visit to experience its unique charms and landscapes.

During your time here, soak in the mix of Italian and Alpine ambiance. Thanks to Bellagio’s location, it means you’re surrounded by impressive backdrops all around. Don’t miss the Punta Spartivento observation deck for incredible views.

You’ll also want to make sure you take a stroll through the historic centre. The narrow, cobbled streets, with independent shops, cafés and gelaterias, look straight out of a postcard. So too do the pastel-coloured façades and wrought-iron balconies. You’ll want to take photos at every corner, capturing the quintessential Italian charm.

The lakeside promenade is another must-see. On a sunny day, you could wander between the palm trees and flower beds to admire the surroundings. Picture azure waters and impressive mountains with snow-capped peaks.

Follow the promenade all the way to one of Bellagio’s highlights, the Villa Melzi. The gardens (“I Giardini di Villa Melzi”) surrounding this 19th-century villa are extensive and well worth the visit. Entrance tickets can be purchased on-site.

And of course, you won’t want to miss taking in Bellagio and its surroundings from the water. Hire a boat or hop on a tour for a unique perspective on the shoreline.
