Placid Lake Como village saluting Menaggio and Bellagio

Soak in the traditional architecture and serene ambiance of Lake Como in Varenna, a favourite amongst our staff. This is a charming village perched on the eastern shore of the lake. It’s located centrally on the lake, across the water from Bellagio and Menaggio, which you can easily reach by short ferry.

Varenna is famous for its postcard-perfect views, featuring a backdrop of lush green mountains and sparkling blue lake. Take the main road, Via Venini, and lose yourself in the town's cobbled streets that are lined with picturesque, colourful houses.

Another historic must-see during your visit to Varenna is Castello di Vezio, a fortress overlooking the town. As well as its heritage and grounds, this castle offers panoramic views over the lake. It’s quite a steep walk up, so we recommend you wear hiking boots and take water and snacks with you.

On the north side of the town, you’ll find the pier from where boats leave every day. You could also stroll along the Passeggiata Degli Innamorati, which translates to “Lovers’ Walk”.
