Wine-producing town on Garda's eastern shore

Nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, Bardolino is one of the lake’s most famous resorts. It is well located, being only a mere 30 kilometres (18 miles) from the city of Verona. Spend a day here to experience all its charms. 

This picturesque town is famous for its Bardolino wine, a light and fruity red that has been produced in the region for centuries. It is part of the larger Veneto wine region. Bardolino was even granted DOC title, or “Denominazione di Origine Controllata”. which certifies a wine based on where and how it is made. 

For this reason, you’ll want to indulge in a tasty tipple while you’re here. Or delve into the industry’s heritage at the Wine Museum. Here you’ll learn about winemaking processes and have the opportunity to sample some of the finest local vintages. 

Afterwards, be sure to enjoy the vibes of the town, wandering through the quaint streets. At the heart of Bardolino, you’ll find colourful buildings with charming balconies and lush flower planters. You’re sure to come upon plenty of terraces to dine al fresco too. 

Follow the Borgo Giuseppe Garibaldi street all the way to Saint Severo Church (“Chiesa di San Severo”). This is a must-see in town and one of Bardolino’s architectural and historical highlights. 

San Severo is a Romanesque church dating back to the year 1109 that features beautiful frescoes and intricate stone carvings. Enjoy a peaceful retreat from the bustle of the town and a glimpse into the town's medieval past. 

Don’t miss the serene lakeside promenade offering stunning views of the crystal-clear waters of Lake Garda. It is dotted with benches so you can stop and bask in the sunshine. Boats leave from the marina for Garda, Sirmione and Lazise.
