Built on a rock in an idyllic setting overlooking Loch Dunvegan, the castle makes a spectacular sight. Its five-acre 18th century formal gardens, full of an eclectic mix of flora, form a stark contrast to the barren moorland and mountains of Skye. Inside the castle, you can feast your eyes on fine art and other clan heirlooms including the Fairy Flag, the sacred banner that allegedly gave the MacLeods miraculous victories in battle.

From the castle, visitors can take a boat trip onto the loch to see a seal colony, enjoy a bite to eat at the cafe or browse in one of its gift shops.
