Austurvöllur

Reykjavik's central square

Austurvöllur is a public square in downtown Reykjavik surrounded by cafes, restaurants and shops. It's a popular gathering place for residents and visitors, especially during periods of good weather. Austurvöllur has been a focal point of protests due to the close location to Iceland's parliament house. Also nearby is the city's oldest church,  Dómkirkjan as well as the historic Hotel Borg.
