Strokkur - Geysir Geothermal Park

The Golden Circle

DISCOVER THE TOP DAY ITINERARY IN ICELAND

The Golden Circle is a route that encompasses several attractions in south Iceland, including Gullfoss, Geysir and Þingvellir National Park.

Gullfoss, or the ‘Golden Waterfall’, is a breathtaking two-tiered waterfall that drops 32 metres into a narrow canyon 70 metres deep and 2.5 kilometres long. From the car park there’s a footpath leading to a viewing platform where you can experience the waterfall in all its glory.

The famed hot spring Geysir is located in the Haukadalur valley in southwestern Iceland. It is the first recorded geyser although it isn't very active these days. Don't worry, you can see its neighbour Strokkur erupting every 5-10 minutes.

Þingvellir has been the site of many special moments in history. The Icelandic parliament, The Alþingi, was established here around 930 AD and on 17 June 1944, Icelanders celebrated their independence from Denmark in Þingvellir.
