This is our second time going on a trip with you guys again everything was awesome. Only one day didnt have many activities but it's understandable because of the time of the year of the trip. But overall we were extremely happy with everything.

Your questions about
Italy tours, answered

We know you’ve got questions before booking your Italian adventure. That’s why we’ve put together these clear, helpful answers to get you ready for la dolce vita.

And here’s some peace of mind upfront: when you travel with us, you can Book With Confidence, knowing your payments are protected. Curious about the details? You’ll find them in our booking terms and FAQs.

Italy consistently tops travel lists from leading publications, like National Geographic, Condé Nast Traveller, and Travel + Leisure – and for good reason.

Think ancient cities where history lives in every piazza. Coastal roads with views that will take your breath away. Tuscan hills that look exactly like the postcards – only better because you can taste the wine.

Add cities like Naples, where a touch of chaos is part of the charm. Or Florence, where you’re never far from world-class art. Then yes, Italy takes its daily rituals seriously. Long lunches, evening “passeggiate” (“leisurely evening strolls”), and the firm belief that there’s always time for another espresso.

The warmth of Italian hospitality seals the deal. From the barista who remembers your order to the nonna who insists you try her homemade limoncello – you’re not just welcomed here, you’re looked after.

Visit between April and October for the classic Italian experience. Expect long, golden days perfect for wandering ancient streets, dining al fresco, and swimming in crystal-clear lakes.

Spring and autumn (April, May, September and October) are best for dodging the summer bustle, enjoying comfortable temperatures, and experiencing Italy at its most relaxed. Autumn also brings harvest season in Tuscany – need we say more?

Summer (June to August) buzzes with life. Yes, warmer and more popular, but there’s something magical about a summer evening in Rome or a sunset aperitivo by Lake Como. Book early if these months call to you.

Want help deciding? This guide breaks down the best times to visit Italy.

We’ll take you to Italy’s greatest hits – and a few verses you haven’t heard yet.

Explore Rome’s ruins and Florence’s Renaissance treasures. Discover the magic of Venice while you’re floating on a gondola, the soul of Naples, and the legendary tower of Pisa. Then lose yourself in Tuscany’s golden hills and endless vineyards.

Then there’s the coast – the dramatic Amalfi Coast from Positano to Ravello, and clifftop Sorrento with its lemon groves. Up north, relax by Lake Como and Lake Garda, explore fashion-forward Milan, and fall for romantic Verona.

We cover LombardyTrento, Aosta Valley, Tuscany and Umbria. A blend of ancient ruins, Renaissance art, glittering lakes, coastal drama, and enough pasta to fuel a lifetime of memories.

Want to combine Italy with its neighbours? We'll connect your trip with AustriaGermany, or Switzerland for an epic multi-country Alpine tour.

Train tours let Italy come to you. Sit back as vineyards and villages glide past your window. Enjoy smooth, scenic city-hopping between Rome, Florence, Venice, and beyond.

Multi-country adventures connect Italy with its neighbours, like Switzerland, Germany, Austria and more. We handle the cross-border logistics, so your trip stays seamless.

Time. Expertise. Local knowledge. And peace of mind.

Planning a full Italy itinerary on your own takes time – often way more than you expect. Comparing hotels, researching routes, checking train schedules, reading reviews, and tracking opening times. It all adds up quickly.

We’ve done the groundwork already. Our Rome-based travel consultants design routes that flow smoothly from one stop to the next. They book accommodation partners they trust. They include the highlights everyone wants to see and the hidden spots most people miss.

When you book with us, you’ll also have round-the-clock support during your trip. Need help? We’re there. Plans change? We take care of it, so you can focus on enjoying every moment.

You’ll stay in hotels our local experts would happily recommend to friends. If it’s not comfy, full of character, or doesn’t promise a good night’s sleep, it doesn’t make the cut.

We pick places based on the things that really matter: quality, location, and charm. All tours include Comfort Plus as standard – handy spots, cosy rooms, and a great night’s rest to fuel the next day of adventures. Feeling fancy? Upgrade to Superior for extra space, style, and a little Italian flair.

No matter what you choose, you’ll love coming back each evening.

For self-drive tours, you can pick any date from April to October. Your trip, your schedule.

If you’d like to travel at a specific time of year, book early to secure your spot. Check the online calendar for the tour you’re interested in to see what dates are available.

We don’t include flights in our tour packages. This way, you’re free to plan the journey that works for you. You choose your airline, where you fly from, and flight times that suit you.

We recommend looking into flights first, then booking your tour. Just wait for our confirmation before buying tickets.

Italy’s weather shifts by region and season, but here’s what to expect.

Summer (June–August): Sunny, and perfect for lakes and coastal days. Rome and Florence can get quite hot – that’s why Italians embrace the afternoon siesta. Occasional heatwaves push temperatures toward 30–35°C (86–95°F).

Spring (April and May) and autumn (September and October): Warm days, cool evenings. Perfect for everything – cities, countryside, coast. Tuscany in October? Chef’s kiss.

Here are the average temperatures in Venice to give you an idea of what it will be like during your trip:

• April: 9–17°C (48–62°F)
• May: 15–22°C (59–72°F)
• June: 18–26°C (64–79°F)
• July: 19–29°C (66–84°F)
• August: 19–29°C (66–84°F)
• September: 15–24°C (59–75°F)
• October: 11–19°C (52–67°F)

Your Italy packing list depends on when you’re travelling and how you plan to spend your days.

In summer, light layers and sandals go a long way. Add swimwear and a travel towel for dips in lakes or hotel pools, and you’re set. A few smarter outfits are worth packing too – Italians take evening style seriously, especially when it’s time for aperitivo.

One small but important note: when visiting churches and cathedrals, your shoulders and knees need to be covered. A scarf in your day bag is an easy fix.

Your Italy packing essentials:
•  Comfortable shoes or sandals
•  Short and long-sleeve tops
•  Light trousers or shorts
•  A warm jumper or fleece for cool evenings
•  Day bag or rucksack
•  Swimwear and a travel towel
•  Sunglasses, sun hat and suncream
•  Umbrella or lightweight waterproof jacket
•  Reusable water bottle
•  Two-pin EU adaptor

Top tip: If your trip includes hiking or a hop over the border into the Alps (hello, Switzerland), pack for cooler temperatures and changeable weather in the mountains. Warm, waterproof layers are key – and at higher altitudes, a hat, scarf and gloves will be your friends.

And don’t forget to leave space for souvenirs. Italy has a way of filling your suitcase on the way home.
