Admire the majesty of nature with a visit to Adventdalen

Adventdalen is a 30-kilometre (19-mile) long valley on the island of Spitsbergen in Svalbard. The river that runs through the heart of the valley is called Adventdalselva, which flows into the frigid Adventfjorden, just outside of Longyearbyen.

The southern side of the valley is home to several disused coal mines, including Norway’s last remaining active mine. The countless snowmobile trails up and down the valley’s length allow for access even when the ground is frozen over.

Thanks to its sprawling plains, Adventdalen is a popular spot for dog-sledding excursions. Take the unique opportunity to soak in awe-inspiring views from behind a pack of hardworking huskies.
