Hairpin bends one after another
Eagle Road (“Ørnevegen”) is a steep mountain route located above Geiranger, and takes the saying “It’s about the journey, not the destination” to a whole new height. Be awestruck by unbelievable views as 11 hair-pin turns take you 620 metres (2,030 feet) up the side of a mountain.
It is difficult to explain the sense of scale without experiencing it. Stop at viewpoints like Flydalsjuvet or Ørnesvingen to snap some photos across the surrounding fjords. There are even hiking trails that branch off from these stops that get even closer to the mountains.
This is a road best experienced slowly, both to enjoy the views and to navigate the tight bends!
