Geirangerfjord in Norway

Flydalsjuvet

Spectacular viewpoint above Geirangerfjord

Flydalsjuvet, like Dalsnibba, is another wonderful viewpoint over Geiranger and Geirangerfjord. If you head up here, make sure you bring your camera – you’ll be able to take some truly jaw-dropping photos.

The viewpoint is split across 2 levels, an upper one and a lower one. On the lower one, you’ll find something rather unexpected – a well-positioned throne! You can place yourself on it and rule over one of the most stunning views in Norway. It was even unveiled there by Queen Sonja of Norway in September 2003.

The view out over the fjord is spectacular. The rocky surroundings slope steeply down to the level of the water, with greenery blanketing everything. Halos of fluffy cloud may well ring the craning peaks, making you feel as if you’re flying with the eagles.

You can get up to Flydalsjuvet from Road 63, and it’s roughly 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) from the centre of Geiranger, heading towards Grotli.
