Experience polar exploration as if you were there

Discover this maritime treasure on Oslo's leafy Bygdøy peninsula, just a scenic ferry ride from the city centre. The museum's striking triangular building rises against the backdrop of the tranquil Oslofjord.

The legendary polar ship, Fram, sits majestically within these walls. Built in 1892, her revolutionary hull design conquered treacherous Arctic ice. She carried Norwegian heroes Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen to both poles, sailing further north and south than any wooden vessel in history.

On board, you can feel history beneath your feet on the original deck planks and step into the cramped quarters where explorers endured months of polar darkness. Interactive exhibits recreate bone-chilling temperatures and showcase authentic sledges that reached the South Pole.
