The highest of Bergen's peaks
The city of Bergen is the master of 7 mountains, which means, if you visit, you will have no shortage of stunning viewpoints to enjoy. Mount Ulriken is the tallest of those 7 mountains, and ascending to its lofty summit is easier than you might think!
That’s all thanks to the smooth “Ulriksbanen” – the Ulriken Cable Car – which you can take by heading to the lower station in the Haukland area, just south of the city centre. The trip to the top of the mountain itself is a mere 5 minutes long, and is thrilling and breathtaking in equal measure.
Once you disembark, you can enjoy some stunning views out over the city of Bergen and its bay, as well as the mountain scene all around. Naturally, sunsets are spectacular from here, and, whilst there’s a reduced winter service, it’s possible to return to Bergen as late as 11 PM from the summit.
You’ll find refreshments available up top, a shop and also the mountaintop restaurant which offers seasonal lunches and dinners. Hiking trails are at your disposal from the top too, if you’d like to explore the nature a little more.
