As you wander through the cobbled streets, you’ll see first-hand why this picturesque spot was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend some time exploring the town’s history at the Hallstatt Museum (“Welterbemuseum Hallstatt”).

Salzwelten Hallstatt, the Hallstatt’s salt mine, is a must-visit. Mining started here 7,000 years ago, making it the oldest salt mine in the world. Adventure yourself inside its tunnels to discover more and visit the interactive exhibit.

If, rather than plunge into its underground heritage, you’d rather see its soaring heights, head to Hallstatt Skywalk (“Welterbeblick”). Hop aboard the Salzbergbahn funicular which will take you high up in only a few minutes. This platform stands at 360 metres (1,200 feet) above the town, allowing you to take in grand views of the surrounding beauty.
