Imagine Peace Tower

A permanent installation from Yoko Ono

On October 9, 2007 artist Yoko Ono unveiled her Imagine Peace Tower on Viðey. The permanent installation is a tower of light projected into the sky from a white stone monument carved with the words “imagine peace” in 24 languages. The tower was created in honour of Ono’s late husband John Lennon and is lit every year from Lennon’s birthday on October 9 through December 8, the day he was shot and killed.
