Sitting along the Baltic Sea, Kalmar is a fortified city in Sweden’s southeast. Once an important military and trade outpost in the country, Kalmar lost strategic importance in the 17th century as borders we moved further to the south.

Kalmar’s charming architecture, including that of the Kalmar cathedral and Kalmar castle, are big draws for visitors to the city.
