The world's oldest open-air museum

Located on the island Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden, Skansen was the first open-air museum and zoo in the world, founded in 1891. Today more than 1.3 million people visitor Skansen each year to visit its full replica of a 19th century Swedish town, complete with working tanners, blacksmiths, glass blowers and shoemakers demonstrating their trades.
 
The zoo at Skansen features a range of Scandinavia‘s native and domesticated animals can be seen.
A popular Christmas market is held each December in the town square of the museum.
