Exclusive peninsula of Riviera villas
Cap Ferrat is a long, narrow peninsula that juts into the Mediterranean between Nice and Monaco. It’s been a favourite vacation spot of wealthy, discerning visitors for well over a century. Rothschilds, royalty, Somerset Maugham – the guest list reads like a history of European privilege.
Today, it remains one of the most exclusive addresses on the Riviera, which is partly why it’s so pleasant to visit. The village of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat sits on the eastern shore of the peninsula – a small harbour town with good restaurants, a few excellent beaches and an unshowy charm.
Not far from the village, you can join the coastal path that circles the cape (the “Sentier du Littoral”). With the sea on one side and the villa gardens on the other, it’s one of the loveliest walks on the Riviera.
