Dog-sledding

The history of dogsledding stretches back to prehistoric times in Greenland. This is how people had had to get around during the snowy winters in Greenland, and to this day it is still a common mode of transport for many. Riding in a sled pulled by huskies, with a real hunter steering your sled, is a truly authentic Arctic experience and highly recommended adventure.

 

The sled dogs themselves are unique: as the Greenland Dog is an ancient breed, their temperament tends to be wilder and more wolf-like, so they are kept chiefly as working dogs, not pets. They are heavy-built and specially trained to withstand the harsh weather and rugged nature of Greenland.
