VISIT THE LARGEST NEOLITHIC ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE IN THE WORLD

Céide Fields is the world’s largest and most extensive Neolithic site. Dating back 5,000 years, the remains of walls, dwellings, tombs and field systems have since been excavated. This archaeological discovery offers a window into the lives of settlers from 3,000 BC.

Settlers from that time cleared the forest and laid out pastures and farmsteads. Since then, the dwellings of Céide Fields have been covered in wild boglands and a thick layer of turf. The stone-walled fields extend over thousands of acres and are some of the oldest in the world.

Discover what lies below the bogs and vegetation by taking a guided tour, or simply pop into the Visitor Centre. The exhibition at the centre reveals the mysterious background of the Stone Age constructions.

Both the tour and Visitor Centre provide an insight into life in Céide Fields and the archaeological discoveries that allow us to know more about the history of the site.

You may also want to visit the viewing platform overlooking the nearby cliffs. The platform sits at the edge of a 110-metre spectacular cliffside.
