CASTLE RUINS SET ALONG A CHARMING BEACH

Minard Castle is only a short drive away from Dingle, on the southern side of the Dingle Peninsula.

You won’t miss it from the road! The castle ruins consist of a large tower house that sits atop a small hill by the water. Both hill and castle offer lovely views over the Irish Sea.

Dating back to the 16^th century, Minard is the largest fortress of the peninsula. There are three surviving storeys, although archaeologists believe there used to be a fourth storey above.

Make sure to read and follow the signs when visiting the ruins of Minard Castle.

If you have time to explore, head for a walk down to the beach. It is a fine example of a natural storm beach. At low tide, you can see large sandstone boulders. These are of unique geological interest as they were once used for primitive inscriptions.
