Norwegian National Gallery

View Photos

The National Gallery, part of the Norwegian National Museum, contains Norway’s largest collection of Norwegian art from the 1700s to mid-1900s, including pieces from Norway’s “golden era” by artists like Edvard Munch, I.C. Dahl, Frits Thaulow, Christian Krohg and Christian Skredsvig, among others. There are also some works on display by notable international artists.

A special section of the gallery, the Edvard Munch Hall, contains a version of one of the most recognised paintings in the world after the Mona Lisa — “The Scream.”
