Time & daylight

Find out what time zone you'll be in and when to expect sunrises and sunsets

The UK is on the GMT/UTC time zone. Like most countries in Europe, Daylight Saving Time (DST) is observed, with the clock shifting forward one hour at the end of March and one hour backward at the end of October.

Because of its northerly latitude, Scotland in particular experiences big differences in seasonal sunrise and sunset hours. At the height of summer it might not get dark until 22:00, and in the depths of winter the darkness may set in as early as 15:00.
