Flights to Ireland

While there are no direct flights between Australia and Dublin Airport (DUB) in Ireland, there are still a lot of connections with layovers in Asian and European cities.

Approximate flight times are about 20 to 30 hours. These depend on your port of departure, as it is much shorter flying from Perth than New South Wales for example, but also on stops along the way.

Below are airlines that offer flights to Ireland:

British Airways: via London
Cathay Pacific: via Hong Kong
Emirates: via Dubai
Etihad Airways: via Abu Dhabi
KLM: via Amsterdam
Lufthansa: via Frankfurt
Qatar Airways: via Doha
Qantas: via Singapore

We recommend checking with the airlines for flight prices, availability and timetables. Flights are not included in Nordic Visitor travel packages, but all of our itineraries can be customised with extra nights in Dublin if you’d like to rest up after a long air journey.

Ireland packages by local travel experts

What would you like to experience in Ireland? Our Ireland travel experts have created thrilling tour packages for your dream Irish trip.

Ideas for Ireland holiday packages from Australia

Pick one of our Ireland travel packages to immerse yourself in the stunning scenery and historic sights. The ideal Irish holiday consists of exploring the cities as well as the countryside, to take in the culture, history and beauty of the Emerald Isle.

Experience the capital, Dublin, and its buzzing atmosphere before spending as much or as little time along the west coast as you wish. All our tours include the biggest highlights as well as more off-the-beaten-path stops.

Imagine yourself wandering through ancient Celtic monuments, going for a walk on the green hills, and learning about Gaelic culture. You could sit in a typical pub tasting the local brew and listening to live Irish music for a good time.

Want to go on an Ireland road trip?

We recommend at least 6 to 8 days to make the most of a road trip around Ireland.

All our tours set off from Dublin and include the top natural attractions such as the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry and Blarney Castle. As the itineraries are flexible, you’ll have the freedom to pull the car over at any attractions or breathtaking views.

As you’re coming from so far away, you may want to visit for 10 days or more. This way you’ll have time to get adjusted to the time difference and see all of the Irish locations you’ve been dreaming about.

We have tours for up to 17 days, so you can take your pick!

With at least 10 days of travel around Ireland, you also get to slow down the pace and visit in more depth. Follow the Wild Atlantic Way route where you could admire some of the world’s largest sea cliffs. Or pop into Northern Ireland for a complete tour of the island.

Here’s an example of a 10-day itinerary around Ireland:

  • Day 1 – Arrive in Dublin and explore the city, from Dublin Castle to the Book of Kells.
  • Day 2 – Pick up your rental car and drive to the west coast. Spend the night in Galway.
  • Day 3 – Explore Connemara or the Aran Islands. Overnight in Galway.
  • Day 4 – See the Cliffs of Moher. Overnight in Doolin.
  • Day 5 – Visit the highlights of the Killarney National Park. Overnight in Killarney.
  • Day 6 – Tour the Ring of Kerry. Overnight in Killarney.
  • Day 7 – Admire Ireland’s south coast and explore the city of Cork. Overnight in Cork.
  • Day 8 – Kiss the Blarney Stone and visit the Rock of Cashel. Overnight in Kilkenny.
  • Day 9 – Take in the Wicklow mountains before dropping off your rental car. Spend your last night in Dublin.
  • Day 10 – Depart from Dublin Airport.

The best part? You won’t have to worry about where you’re going or sleeping, because your Nordic Visitor travel consultant will plan your trip and sort all the details before you arrive.

We reserve your accommodation, rent a car for your trip, and can book activities to fill your days with more adventures. We cater to all tastes, whether you want to visit a whiskey distillery, go hiking in the national parks or even stay in a castle.

You’ll also have access to our 24/7 emergency helpline should you need to call us at any point.

Good to know: Our travel experts have designed these Ireland trips so you’ll get the most out of them. But you can also customise your itinerary. For instance, you could add extra nights, optional activities or upgrade your accommodation. Personalise your tour online or speak to your travel consultant. We’re here to ensure you make the most of your Ireland trip from Australia.

Would you prefer a guided tour of Ireland?

Skip the driving and opt for a guided tour!

See the Emerald Isle from a local’s point of view and make some new friends along the way with our guided small group tours. These tours offer an enriching and personal way to travel as a group. You’ll take advantage of an expert guide’s knowledge while travelling with a maximum of 15 guests.

Please note: While these packages can be customised with some optional activities, you can only add extra nights in Dublin before or after the guided portion of the tour.

Or if you prefer to travel with your family and friends only, look no further than private tours of Ireland. You’ll have your very own driver-guide to take you around the island and tell you all about its history and culture. This is an intimate way to see the country with dedicated attention to your own needs and interests.

Interested in visiting Northern Ireland?

As you may already know, the island of Ireland is separated in 2 entities. The Republic of Ireland, which is an independent nation, and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom (along with England, Scotland and Wales).

While they are 2 different countries, they share many similarities in their history, culture and, of course, their geography. For a complete tour of the island, we recommend including Northern Ireland in your itinerary. This way you could get to know the Emerald Isle and see all its beauty in depth.

In Northern Ireland, you won’t want to miss the capital Belfast, and the Antrim Coast. The jewel of the country is the Giant’s Causeway. While it is no Great Barrier Reef, it is a breathtaking rock formation with magical sea views.

When is the best time to visit Ireland from Australia?

Ireland is a beautiful country all year long. This means you can’t go wrong when you book your Irish getaway from Australia. That said, we recommend the summertime or its shoulder months for the best experience.

The summer, consisting of the months of June, July and August in the northern hemisphere, is the high season. It is marked by long daylight hours and the best (and most stable) weather of the year. Attractions also operate under longer hours and more availability than in winter.

All of this means you can discover Ireland to your heart’s content.

However, you may find that top attractions are very popular at this time. Indeed, Ireland attracts visitors from around the world especially in summer.

If you would rather have a quieter holiday, visit during the spring or autumn. These shoulder months include April, May, September and October. During this time, you’ll find the best of both worlds: quieter attractions but plenty of good weather and daylight to explore.

You may find a difference in the change of temperature, even from winter to summer, so make sure you pack appropriately for the Irish climate. Read through our Ireland guide for travel tips including packing list, weather and more.

Are you interested in exploring Scotland too?

You could combine a tour of Ireland with a trip around Scotland for an epic Celtic itinerary. We recommend a minimum of 10 days for this, however, so you can have enough time to dive into the cultures of both countries.

Spend the first 4 to 10 days journeying around the rugged Highlands and islands of Scotland. Then follow that up with another trip around Ireland to take in all the jaw-dropping coastal landscapes and historic landmarks.

Scotland is a great destination to complement a tour to Ireland. Their cultures and history are so closely linked and you’ll be able to meet the locals and get immersed in both.

What's more? You can choose from a range of trips for your combo tour, including road trips, private itineraries and guided small group tours. It all depends on how you prefer to travel.
